Country Music Icon Randy Travis Faces Life-Altering Illness

Los Angeles: Randy Travis, a country music artist, is in critical condition after being brought to a hospital in Texas.

On July 7, the musician was sent to a Dallas hospital for cardiac issues, and he was eventually admitted to a Texas facility.

According to a statement from his publicist, he had a critical medical problem on Monday night, July 8, 2013, according to huffingtonpost.com.

Travis's spokesperson Kirt Webster stated that the 54-year-old was receiving treatment for viral cardiomyopathy, a virus-induced cardiac disease.

In January, Travis—who goes by the nickname "The Three"—was convicted guilty of operating a vehicle while inebriated. After that, he was arrested in 2012 when his Pontiac Trans Am automobile crashed and he was discovered to be nude.

He received a two-year probationary period, a $2,000 fine, and a 180-day suspended jail sentence. He was mandated to do 100 hours of community service and spend at least 30 days in an alcohol treatment center.
